Is dismantling the best remedy or the easy one to bring about efficiency. Would privatize eliminate some level of security or intelligence for the country?. Is there more to the post office than just having mail delivered in 5 days? What would be the long term effect if the owner was a foreign company or government. I wonder! I agree. However, that would take a Constitutional Amendment. Get rid of the unions and retirement packages. The benefit of a government job was suppose to be that you would have it unless you quit. Unlike the private sector where you got top pay and benefits, but were subject to job loss at any time.
Let’s get some things straight; the post office isn’t funded by taxes and a bulk of the losses come from the prefunding requirement. Get ride of that first and then see.
The post office still serves a purpose in the modern age. It delivers a ton of packages, even some for FedEx and UPS. It’s especially important in rural areas. Would a privatized post office maintain service to rural areas at reasonable prices, or even at all?
